Gardening

Another rare beautiful day…plus payday, so that means we can buy the wood and topsoil needed to make our raised bed vegetable gardens. That’s the general recomendation for living in a Northern rainforest. Helps warm the soil and keep out slugs, plus it’s easy then to install hoop covers to extend the season a bit.

On the news front, the web sites are all screaming about the American contractor beheaded on videotape. Not sure what this will mean, except a couple days away from focusing on the torture scandals, at least until new photos are released.

  1. hey…its Montana again. Your fourth blog hasn’t surfaced yet here…time 2:30 pm. Wanted to checkout some of your photos I knew you were using. Will check in tomorrow or Monday. Weather is warming here. The art of bloggism appears very challenging…for a newbie blogger you are doing pretty good. It would be interesting to hear more of the personal…like the spiders in your house, the bears that walk through your back yard in the summer, your precocious daughter who probably leaves popscicle juice all over your keyboard when she is using it, your wife who is probably trying to get your attention but you are too focused blogging to hear her pleas. Digging clams at the beach, scraping off “lady slippers” from the rocks during low tide, and roasting them in a coffee can right at the beach and describing their taste to all the non Mendenhallers…etc. etc.Yours truly..Montana

  3. Hey, Montana, if this blog we’re purely intended to interest my mother, you might have a point with your suggestions. But I have a larger audience in mind, like maybe the one or two friends I tell about this blog, for instance.

  4. hey…..the blogs are definitely getting a polish on them. And of course, you are right..the blogs aren’t just to please a montanan….but we mom’s have a point of view also..and it isn’t always a selfish one. Well, maybe it is. If what interests me is defined in my point of view, then I guess it is selfish. But, you, as one of my respected English mentors, have helped frame a good part of my point of view. And I enjoy reading your political comments, etc. to other people and reading the shared exchanges. Good grief, your daughters birthday, my one and only grandaughter, birthday on next tuesday? Hope my stuff has arrived. Weather beautiful here..already went swimming(Helena Hot Springs known as Broadwater),am at Ray’s…did the Saturday Market thing and ate a questionable health muffin with every known vegtable known to man cooked into it. I traded my two chocolate chip cookies for it and now wish I didn’t. May do a hike in the woods. And may not also.Tomorrow down to Craig to grieve the demolition of the rickety old wooden bridge that crossed the Missouri…a potluck to acknowledge the day. Take care my favorite blogger. Montana
